CPU (Central Processing Unit)
The CPU is the brains of the computer. Sometimes referred to simply as the processor or
central processor, the CPU is where most calculations take place. The CPU is just a very important chip. Common
motherboard chipsets include the BX, i810, i820, and many others. The CPU is for 1977 or so. The printer is a
modified selectric; although it has a centronics-style connector, the interface isn't centronics.
The CPU is the workhorse of your computer - the equivelent of a motor in a Car. Now the Mac
has a much better motor (the PowerPC processor), but that is not all there is to the car (computer). The CPU is
built so that when that wire is turned on, the CPU saves enough information about what it is currently doing so
that it can return to the same state later. This information consists of the contents of important internal
registers such as the program counter. The CPU is made up of millions of tiny electronic ?switches? Each time a
switch operates, a small amount of heat is generated.
Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you're fully informed about CPU
(Central Processing Unit), keep reading.
The CPU is being used up by the wait states required to move a large block of data two bytes
at a time across the old ISA bus. Therefore, while it may make sense to save money by using an inexpensive display
screen on a server, it is still a good idea to get a high speed adapter card. The CPU is the fastest device on the
mainboard of the computer. It has to be slowed down to match the memory and I/O device speed. The CPU is
technically a set of components that manages all the activities and does much of the "heavy lifting" in a computer
system. The CPU interfaces, or is connected, to all of the components such as memory, storage, and input/output
(I/O) though communications channels called busses.
The CPU is built so that when that wire is turned on, it saves enough information about what
it is currently doing so that it can return to the same state later. This information consists of the
contents of important internal registers such as the program counter. The CPU is further coupled to a cursor
control device which permits a user to selectively position a cursor at a desired location on the display, and
signal the CPU of selections in accordance with the teachings of the present invention. Buttons are generated by
the CPU and displayed which correspond to either a single function to be executed by the CPU, or a button stack
which has associated therewith a plurality of functions disposed on a menu. The CPU is running as fast as it can go
at times when im not running any programs. I can't fiqure it out.
The CPU is one of the components of the system that is commonly overclocked. The CPU clock
speed is the product of the FSB (Front Side Bus ) speed and the CPU's multiplier (sometimes called the clock
ratio). The CPU is fully compatible in user mode with the extended- addressing KL10, including string instructions,
the single- word global byte pointer, and G-format floating point. In floating-point operations, the result may
differ but will always be at least as accurate as the KL10 result.
