An IPod will work on any computer with Mac OSX Tiger and up, or Windows XP and up. In either case you need a usb 2.0 port on your computer which is pretty standard these days. But for it to work properly in Windows you need to install the ITunes Software. It is free at apple.com/itunes . When you plug it in, it will automatically be charging.
You can connect any computer with a usb port and you charge it with the usb like other mp3 players with batteries built in.
You will have to use itunes to sync it as far as I could tell click and past or click in send only work to use ipod as a memory stick. must sync to play.
itunes is a great podcast catcher
You can connect to any computer because i thought that i could only connect it to apple computers but all you need is itunes and it works. and it does recharge them directly on the computer.
any computer and just plug into usb to recharge
